Ham and Swiss Poppy Seed Sliders

I wanted to try this recipe because it looked like such a quick and easy dinner. Plus, I am a sucker for a sandwich. Not only was the dinner prep simple, these were delicious. I had to take a quick picture with my phone because we had to put them on the blog before they got gobbled up. I can't wait to make this for our next party as an appetizer. They are soooo good. Even my kids liked them. When the whole family is eating, that is success!!!!

Ham and Swiss Poppy Seed Sliders

The Slider
Ingredients:
24 good white rolls
24 pieces good honey ham
24 small slices Swiss cheese
1/3 mayo
1/3 cup miracle whip

Poppy Seed Sauce
Ingredients:
1 1/2 TBSP poppy seeds
1 1/2 TBSP yellow mustard
1 stick butter, melted
1 TBSP minced onion
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Directions:
In a small bowl, mix together mayo & miracle whip. Spread onto both sides of the center of each roll. Place a slice of ham & a slice of swiss inside of each roll. Close rolls & place into a large baking dish or heavy cookie sheet, very close together.
In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients and pour evenly over all of the sandwiches. Let sit 10 minutes, or until butter sets slightly. Cover with foil & bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Uncover & cook for 2 additional minutes and serve warm.

Chris's Gourmet Hamburger Patties

These are quite possibly the best homemade hamburgers I have ever had. They were so scrumptious. This is our 3rd time having them in 1 month. I really don't repeat meals that often so it just goes to show how delicious they are. They are so perfect for summer grilling out on the deck with family and friends. I love summer and all the food that comes with it. This burger goes great with pepper jack cheese! This recipe comes from my wonderful sister-in-law Christina. She is an excellent cook and makes up tons of her own recipes. She also has a fabulous herb garden and uses all her fresh herbs in her recipes. Fresh herbs make a huge difference. You have got to try these burgers!

Chris's Gourmet Hamburger Patties

1 lb hamburger
3/4 - 1 lb ground sausage
1 T dry thyme or 2 T fresh thyme
1/4 C dry onion or very finely chopped fresh onion
Salt and pepper

Mix together and form into patties. Grill until done all the way through.

Our favorite way to serve this is with:
Pepperjack cheese
Grilled onions
Barbecue Sauce or Ranch
Tomato (optional)
Lettuce (optional)

South of the Border Sandwiches

If you have never tried these sandwiches, you must put these ingredients on your shopping list and make them this week, tonight even.  They are so fabulous.  I rarely taste a sandwich with as good a flavor combination as this one.  They are scrumptious.

South of the Border Sandwiches

Ingredients:
1/2 cup olives, chopped
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon ground cumin
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup green onions chopped
½ cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup sour cream
¾ to 1 lb. cooked turkey sliced thin (can be lunch meat)
2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
2 ripe avocados, sliced (optional)
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 cup monterey jack cheese
4 hoagie rolls split open

Directions:
In a bowl, combine olives, chili powder, cumin, salt, mayo, sour cream, and green onions. Place bread on an ungreased baking sheet and spread 1 Tbsp of the mayo mixture on each slice. (I just eyeball it.) Top with slices of turkey and tomatoes. Spread with another tbsp of the mayo mixture. Top with sliced avocados (optional) and cheeses. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until heated through.
